Mission 1 Level 3: Tram Ride

Objectives:

Restore power to the tram

Escape from Castle Wolfenstein

Meet Kessler in the village of Wulfburg

Mission Briefing:

Orders are as follows: Infiltrate Castle Wolfenstein and investigate increase in actvitiy from SS Paranormal Division. Gather any intelligence information you may find regarding said SS division and their activities in the area.

Kessler, your contact, is a member of a German resistance group called the Kreisau Circle. He has managed to partially infiltrate the SS Paranormal Division's temporary headquarters and has valuable information regarding their activities. Meet Kessler in the village near the archaeological dig site. He will have further information regarding your mission.

Remember: If you or Agent One are captured, escape at all costs. Standing Order #71 remains in effect: If you are placed in a compromising position where you might divulge information regarding your mission or the OSA, take your own life by ingesting your cyanide tablet. As always, the OSA will disavow any knowledge of your identity and mission if you are compromised.

As you start the mission, there's a door to the right, leading to some weapons and health. There's also a beer stein on the table, which will add to your stamina. Head back out and down the stairs to the double doors.


When you open the doors, you'll find yourself at a tram control station. The tram is to the right, but you'll need to take the door immediately to the left first. Dispatch of the guards and head through the door, turning off the alarm right next to it (if necessary).


Head downstairs, eliminating the three soldiers along the way. Once at the bottom, pull the lever reenabling the tram and pick up the grenades and other supplies before going back upstairs.


Once you pull the switch, the tram will begin heading your way...bringing more soldiers with it. Your best bet is to get upstairs ASAP, take the ladder to the right of the loading platform, and shoot the soldiers through the window. Once the tram is clear, press the button and jump on board.


At the halfway point, the tram will stop at a tower and go no further. If you keep your eyes open, you'll notice a small hatch near the bottom of the tower close as you approach. There are a few more soldiers here -- clear them out, and then climb the ladder to the top of the tower.


There's another ladder leading downward to the bottm interior of the tower -- take it down, and find the switch opening the hatch in the floor. Shoot the soldier inside, climb down, and throw the switch re-powering the tram. Retrace your steps to the tram, press the button and continue your ride.


Once again, a few soldiers will start shooting as the tram approaches. There's a door far off in the back -- if you can shoot as soon as it opens, you may be able to explode some barrels and any soldiers nearby -- if nothing else, you'll keep youself from getting blown up by them later.


Jump off the tram and open the door -- do NOT go through until exploding the barrels, or else the soldiers on the other side will surely blow you up as you enter. There's one soldier on the platform with you, and another down below in the generator area, along with some health packs.


The door exiting this area is locked, so climb the ladder. If you go through the door, you'll find a helmet and assorted ammo from the soldiers fighting before. Go back out the door, and jump across and to the vent on the left. Break through the vent and climb down.


Before breaking out of the vent, watch for a second and listen to the soldiers. Your best bet is to break out, go right, take out the three soldiers, and take cover as more Nazis emerge from the doorway.


After clearing all the soldiers, a short cutscene will play. High Command has requested a radio update, and someone has just communicated that everything is under control and the American is dead. This is your contact Kessler, who will open the doors for you -- so don't shoot him! Follow him to the end of the level and your first mission.

Things went sour after Agent One and I infiltrated the area. Unable to meet our Kreisau Circle contacts, we were captured and taken to Castle Wolfenstein. Agent One was tortured and killed, but revealed no information. Overpowered guard and managed to escape. Only way to Village was via Castle Wolfenstein Tram. In Tram Station I finally managed to meet up with Kessler, who was badly wounded in a battle with Nazi guards. Kessler spoke with High Command in Village, they all believe I am dead. Proceeding on into Village with Kessler.
