Mission Briefing:

From OSA via Kreisau Circle contact Kessler:

Learned of your capture and subsequent escape from Castle Wolfenstein; Agent One's death a tragedy, but unavoidable.

Himmler's SS Paranormal Division, headed by Helga von Bulow, is staging a massive archaeological dig near the outskirts of the village. OSA recently intercepted fragments of high-level encoded messages coming from the site directly to Himmler himself, but up to this point we have been unable to fully decode any of the messages.

Karl Villigut, a member of the Kreisau Circle, is in the village with an important item for you. If possible, locate him and obtain the item, then proceed as per Kessler's instructions to archaeological dig and investigate the situation. Remember to gather any intelligence information you may find along the way. You will receive new orders once you reach the dig site.

While the first level of this mission has you battling more Nazi soldiers, you'll soon find Helga Von Bulow's excavation site...and the horrors below. Note that there are multiple paths and strategies you can take to get through the level -- this is just the one we liked the most.

This mission starts off with a shot of the Nazi-occupied village, near the excavation site. Kessler leads you inside one of the buildings, and opens a secret passage leading down to a basement. You can help yourself by not making a lot of noise, so get out your knife and take out the drunken soldier in the basement, who has his back turned to you.

Upstairs, there's a room with a cute civilian girl in one of the rooms (don't shoot her!)...and soldiers everywhere else. You can't really help but make noise in here -- take out the two soldiers in the immediate area, and some more should come running from the balcony above. Go forward and out the door, and there should be another solider waiting for you.

After dispatching the soldier, take the door on your right back inside. This will lead up to the balcony, more soldiers, and a few rooms with weapons, ammo and health.

The very last room upstairs features a soldier and a mounted machinegun. Take care of the soldier, take control of the gun, and 3 or 4 soldiers should come running from the distance. You're pretty safe here, so fire away until the coast is clear.

You can retrace your steps to go back outside, but you may run into more soldiers along the way. It's probably easier to simply drop down onto the pavement from here.

At this point, you can take one of two distinct routes: you can take a gard right, or you can go all the way the far end of the courtyard, where you can collect guns and ammo from the soldiers you shot a few moments ago. That's our choice.

After a few turns, you'll see this soldier. When you emerge from this spot, you'll want to go left, but there's a soldier in the tower above. Shoot this soldier, and more should come running -- let them come to you, and they shouldn't pose a problem.

When the coast is clear, step out and look up. Despite the shooting, the guard probably won't notice you until you step all the way out. If you look up all the way and get off one good headshot with the Mauser when he peeks out, you'll save yourself a lot of hassle. Load your MP40 back up and get ready for some more soldiers to enter the corridor.

When you've dispatched the remaining soldiers, Karl Villigut will emerge from a doorway on the right -- don't shoot him or the mission ends! Follow him and listen to what he has to say -- he'll eventually give you a silenced Sten, which will make things much easier in terms of not attracting attention. There are many other goodies to grab, including a hot meal, a flak jacket and ammo.

Leave via the door that Villigut opens, make a left and go up the stairs. There will be a gap in the guardrail to the left -- drop down, and then make a right and go through the small tunnel. You can progress to the final area pretty quickly from here, but you'll want to make a few detours along the way.

When you emerge from the tunnel, open the gate on your right, and continue until you hear some soldiers talking. Don't stand in view of the door -- if it opens, you'll be spotted and the conversation will end. When the soldiers are finished talking, take them out and go through the door, where you'll find another soldier and an office. There's silencer for your Luger here, along with more health and ammo, and even a secret area in the floor triggered by the bookcase.

Backtrack to the underpass, and if you want, take a detour by taking the door on the right. There are no soldiers inside, but a civilian, a hot meal, and a beer stein giving you some more stamina.

Go back oustide and prepare to head up the staircase. before doing so, though, you may want to scope the situation out with the Mauser -- there's a sniper on one of the balconies in the distance. After dropping him, yuu can take one of two paths at the top of the pathway -- down to the right, or straight out to the left. The path to the right eventually leads to a locked door, so go to the left.

As you progress, you'll run into a number of soldiers, and eventually have the option of going through a door to your right. This is where you need to go, but before you do, continue ahead and take the staircase down to the left -- there's a storeroom by the crates containing grenades, ammo, another silenced pistol (in case you missed the first one), and more.

Go back through the double doors and listen to the officers speak. (There's another soldier on the level above you, so don't go out too far until you're ready to attack.) Apparently they had to seal the crypt off, trapping their own soldiers inside. After the conversation, clear the area out and head straight out the door on the other side.

When you exit the door, the crypt area is in a graveyard immediately to the left...along with many other soldiers. If you duck out and to the right, you can snipe a few of the soldiers before they get too close. There are 4 or 5 soldiers out here -- clear them out and approach the crypt.

The crypt is sealed up, but you'll find some dynamite behind it. Place the dynamite on the front of the crypt and get far away. After it blows up, go inside and drop down below.
