Mission Briefing:

According to Kreisau Circle members from Wulfburg, these catacombs run a great distance under the village, ultimately leading to an ancient church that is no longer accessible by normal means. Helga von Bulow is reported to be there now, with a large contingent of her "Elite Guard" and a team of scientists from the SS Paranormal Division.

Your orders are to navigate the catacombs and locate the church. Gather any artifacts that you may find along the way for future analysis. Kreisau Circle reports "supernatural" activities are taking place in the catacombs; these are most likely unfounded rumors, but they are from a reliable source and must be heeded.

Still in the crypt catacombs, this level is much like the last -- you'll fight zombies, throw switches, and run across your first puzzle.

Once again, the mission starts with a scene of Nazis battling zombies. Just sit back and let them fight it out before stepping into the fray.

Continue through the first set of hallways, killing any Nazis you meet or zombies that break out of the walls near you. Eventually you'll find some German soldiers fighting a group of fire zombies -- since they move slow, it's time to break out the grenades!

You'll reach a dead end, but there's panel on the wall with a picture of a hand on it. Press the panel and head back the way you came. If you head back to the lower level, you'll find another passageway has opened.

Head further down until you reach another foggy room, where the door will lock behind you. This is yet another "the exit won't open until you kill all the enemies" area, so get your grenades ready.

Once you've killed all the zombies (4 or so) the exit will open, revealing a number of Nazis behind it. They'll soon be attacked by more zombies behind them, so let them battle it out for a bit. Once they're done, head out into the next area, mop up any enemies remaining, and survey the situation: your first puzzle of the game.

There are three anetrooms here, and a large column in the center of the room. Each has a switch inside, and you'll need to be careful to activiate each one without getting killed. You should save here, and quicksave after completing each room successfully.

Going clockwise, the first room (to your left) has two challenges: you have to jump over a short gap, and the walls will collapse almost immediately after throwing the switch. Jump the gap, throw the switch, and immediately re-jump the gap to get out.

The next room (to your left again) has a big spiked wall that comes swinging out of the ceiling. Take a few steps in to trigger the door, and then wait for it to slowly retract and run behind it. Throw the switch, and stay put -- the wall should swing out again. When it reloads, that's your chance to get out.

The final room (once again to your immediate left) features a few pressure sensitive plates, which trigger razor-sharp blades that will cut you to pieces...even in God Mode. Your best bet is to crouch-walk slowly and simply walk around the plates to the switch at the back. Flip the switch, carefully exit the room, and the column in the center of the chamber should descend. (Apparently, they didn't have rope or rooms full of crates in Dark Ages.)

Climb onto the column, which will begin ascending shortly. (Don't worry if you miss it; the cycle will repeat shortly.) At the top, step across the wooden walkway leading to another switch, which will open the door on the other side of the room.

On the other side of the door you'll find a chamber with a chalice at the far side. Notice the spikes on each side? If you grab the chalice, back off quickly before they collapse on you.

Some extra-strong zombies will break out of a chamber in the center of the room, and the gargoyle heads lining the walls will also shoot fire if you come too close to them. Stay in the center of the room and use grenades against the slow-moving zombies. When they're all dead, the room will be rocked by a small earthquake and the floor will open up -- drop down and open the unlocked door to reach the end of the level.
