Central Focal Point Building

Purpose

1. To lesser the effects of weaker team mates. (fighting as a unit will absorb some of the defensive problems)

2. To reduce the needs for technology upgrades, (if each player concentrates on units of 1 type then they should save on upgrades to unused units)

3. From the centre all military strikes are more easily executed.

4. To improve the communication as a clan.

 

Ideals

1. 3v3 games (ideal for connections, ideal because 1 player can use units of 1 type each)

2. Land Nomad (Because the enemy will expect it less)

3. Space and resources in centre of map.

4. High stone games.

 

Obvious no-goes

1. Baltic, Oasis, Michi.

2. Civs of same unit bonuses, (ie pointless Huns, Franks and spanish)

 

Execution of the Style of Play

1. A high wood zero gold start, with a castle of 16-18 mins, high villager and 2+ barracks by the time you click castle.

2. By the time you reach castle you should be well on the way or have finished walling the sides of map (see below).

3.All 3 players should have 1 TC in middle of map with their appropriate military buildings started producing by 25mins tops.

4. BAITING, It is important to try to force the enemy to attack you central base rather than you home base, the best way is to make a castle on the edge of your central base, and also in range of his base, Also raiding parties will be key, so the cavalry civ will be very busy, and the covering archer/pikes need to be listening ready for what the enemy is countering with

5. Home base defenses should be kept to a minimum, so that forward armies can be as big as possible, around 15 pikes at pop limit should be fine, as knight scan be brought from centre if needed.

 

Key Issues

These are obvious but need addressing

1. COMMUNICATION, cant stress it importantly enough, because the defenses are quite far from your home base, you need to have out posts and be on alert al the time, comunicating with team mates regularly, about what units the enemy has and where you have seen them. If you are under attack, as a lan we need to be telling our team mates, What, where and with how many units the enemy is attacking asap. (eg 20 enemy knights here + flare, this will be much more fruitfull than, "shit" +flare x 5).

2. It goes without saying, but until recently i had no idea how important it is, NO IDLE TC's till your saving for imp. and with this style, you need to be near perfect production on military bildings from castle onwards.
